Solar Storm Alert: Two Large Coronal Holes Detected on Sun

According to the satellite data from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a large coronal hole has been identified in northern hemisphere of the Sun, while a smaller, elongated hole has appeared in the southern hemisphere. These coronal holes have the potential to generate Coronal Hole High-Speed Streams (CH HSS), which can cause auroras (Northern Lights) on Earth.

As reported by Fox News, the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC) organizes solar storms into five levels, with level five being the most severe. Current analysis proposes that from February 1 to 3, solar activity will be sharp, with the likelihood of a G1 (minor) geomagnetic storm. If this occurs, Northern Lights may be visible in upper regions of North America and parts of the Midwest.
